At Cowboy Auto Detailing LLC, we strive to make your vehicle paint look as good as possible within a reasonable price range. One of the ways we do this is to distinguish between “paint enhancement” and “paint correction.” Paint enhancement involves light polishing and applying a premium protection product and is usually performed on vehicles with at least reasonably good paint. Such vehicles will look noticeably better with our paint enhancement services, which help remove issues such as surface contamination and light dullness or oxidation. We typically talk about such paint with such issues as “looking 50-80% better after we’re done with it.” Our Platinum Detail Package, Exterior Detail Package, and Paint Enhancement Package come standard with a paint enhancement service and six-month spray ceramic protection.
Paint correction comes into play when the vehicle has more significant issues or the customer insists on the best paint finish possible (e.g., for a high-end vehicle or show vehicle). The most significant problems would be heavier versions of the abovementioned issues, like heavy scratching, normal washing scratches or “cob-webbing,” light bushwhacking (scratches on the side from driving through brush), extensive surface contamination, or more profound oxidation. The customer is typically offered paint correction as an optional next level of paint appearance improvement beyond our standard paint enhancement. We offer a one-step, two-step, and three-step paint correction service. The price for these paint correction services includes an exterior detail and paint correction only and doesn’t include a ceramic coating. The price of a ceramic coating will need to be added to these corrections.
Customer-requested paint correction typically involves working on paint issues that are noticeable only to the most distinguishing of vehicle owners. For example, this service might include orange peel removal or paint “perfection” services, where extensive time, effort, and multiple steps or stages are used to make the paint surface look as perfect as possible. Keep in mind, however, that we never promise absolute perfection, just spectacular results! With paint correction, we strive for more than 70-90% percent better results.
We are always mindful of protecting the paint during the correction process. However, sometimes we must balance the amount of correction performed with the critical necessity to leave as much paint on the vehicle as possible. Since paint correction involves a more aggressive paint cutting, we often recommend (and sometimes insist!) on applying one of our ceramic coating options for the best protection of the remaining paint.
One final note: There are instances when paint damage is so extensive that even our highly trained artisans can’t do much to make it look better. In these cases, we suggest taking your vehicle to your favorite body shop for repainting of the affected areas.
